ADAM NORTON

The Great Reclamation

06 September – 05 October 2008

Pictura, Dordrecht, The Netherlands

‘History is a race between education and catastrophe.’  H. G. Wells

Since the tyranny of the age of Newton, and the barbarism of the terrible ‘redundancy’, we have seen nothing but the fragile pinnacle of a previous civilisation pitched into the undergrowth. We dumbly ignored the old machines and ideas that were decaying at our feet. Now, however, it is time for the ‘Great Reclamation’.

A new power will be forged for both man and technology, as we strike forward with renewed purpose and demonstrate our mastery of all skills, both new and old. Around us we collect the brutal technology, the abandoned theories, the outdated strategies of the past, and we weld together a raw vision of the present where debunked science, once outmoded ideas and redundant machines will join and stand together as one. The past will now live side by side with the future, to understand all things in the glorious intense present.

Long live The Reclamation!
